Does the pic of the skull model remind you of anything...? maybe something I posted a while ago? 
I implanted plenty of skull implants made out of polymethyl methacrylate which is actually plexiglas (R). We use a green colored one with enriched with a antibiotic component. the product name is Palacos btw.
Another thing we do is implanting pseudoceramic implants made out of Bioverit and manufactured by this guys here:

Sometimes I help my dentist friend modeling his FEA of stress on implants and sometimes I render them with Maxwell, too but it would also be amazing printing these tissues

@Thomas: Yes and yes. I work fulltime in the Department for Neurosurgery in the medical university of Luebeck. That is why I had access to CT data of human skulls. I've also been ivolved into a long time study concerning the manufacturing of artificial skull implants and different methods implanting and measuring these implants. Just ask right away, in case you have any questions. You might want to take a look at the medical section in my online portfolio.
