a other product that leave the developing by autodesk .
Is a question always i have had . lightscape=radiosity max

thoose are Lightscape renderings. Volumetrics are added with other rendering engine.
Lightscape was for many years the best rendering software-engine for interiors.
Autodesk bought the company and badly implemented the progressive refinment radiosity algorythm.
It was incredible to see the quality leak between the original lightscape and his integration in Max.
Very easy material setup (like maxwell), very accurate and high quality material presets.
Never used it in Max because the disappointing color depth.
Lightscape died in 2001, i think, at release 3.11.

I did this renderings in 1998.

lol, glorious lightscape, did it get to 3.11? Well yes, Autodesk gave the developers a *real* big cheque for the source code, then proceeded with their (as mentioned) rather bizarre implementation of it in max's native engine, and it would appear that even that's been abandoned as well. (Why waste time paying programmer buggers when you can buy them out for half the price?!) Lol, the multinationals still have some revolutions in store for us yet i immagine... :)

The nicest thing was the real time radiosity visualization. It was also a wonderful tool for radiosity real-time environments.

Real pretty results Daros to be all the way from 1998  ..considering the limitations of the tools back then. I can clearly remember what i created, or attempted to create back then :D this brings back some good memories.

I'm impressed!

Thanks Maximus!
Yes it was difficult to obtain good results. The big problem was to model for lightscape. No intersecting planes, only polygons with a aspect ratio close to 1, no vetices adiacent to edges, and very long rasiosity calculation times (from6 to 60 hours) but after that very, very fast renderings.
For example 3000x2000 interior rendering at 64 samples-pixel no more as 2 hours on a PIII 800.

If I'm not mistaken, Rod Recker and Pierre-Felix Breton came over from Lightscape Technologies. The thing that was missing was the LS raytracer, which was of really high quality.

FWIW, I did this with Max 6 Radiosity:

Incredible renders . And finally knows what happens . Is "poor" that autodesk still has radiosity on max , but dont make any develop to
put lightscape ok on max .
I bake with radiosity for real time , use a engine that only work with
baked textures ( has no lights ) , and always im bit dissapointed with
my results . Too , 90 percent of time , are big scenes where radiosity
needs to triangulate and ........
But too , chen3d has lightscape renders , and always thinking that
the taste is diferent to radiosity , but the renders are great like many
others i have seen on cgarchitect gallery with lscape .

I found my old installation disk and reloaded lightscape the other day just for the hell of it, it is amazing how much quicker it renders on the machine of today!! Real shame it died I spent hours learning how to use it!! I even read the manual :D

I am still using Lightscape 3.2 for main production line. Its very fast render engine that I know. On average its need no more than 1 hour for radiosity and redering time.

Cheers.

Then , is a fact that 2001 lightscape is "better" than radiosity 2006 .
Even must be the "same" .
Lightscape is capable to bake textures ?

And then , if i would want to work with lightscape but is not posible to buy
because doesnt exists right now , what is the way , for profesional
work . ? Simply not posible ?

IMO, you should be a high school teacher at 1998, right? :)
