The maxwell display crash when i try load the hdr to convert it in mxi format. If i open it inside studio, maxwell dont crash but this method don´t permit me adjust camara settings. Is there anyway to resize an hdr image?, I think is to much heavy to my computer

Thanks again, i posted a render in the thread on cgtalk, since I rendered with Brazil (since I already had the shaders in place, not to downtalk Maxwell

)
edit: Yeah I resized the HDR to 600x300 and blurred it for use as illumination source. For the reflections and background I used the big one obviously.
edit2: I use gamma correction in 3dsmax, since that allows me to open HDR images in 3dsmax without making them relatively too dark. Is there a way to control the gamma of textures/hdri's in Maxwell?

Jespi, why are you not using the hdr directly? Why convert it to mxi?

Hi Mihai! I was thinking that was better work with mxi images, with the same camara settings (film iso,f-stop...) that in the scene. What do you recommend me? do you use always the hdr format?.
Thanks Mihai and sorry by my precarious english.

I think the mxi will be pretty huge at that size. You can just increase the intensity setting in the mxi/hdr dialogs if you want to change the brightness and intensity of the hdr map.
I've found for this particular hdr, it comes in pretty dark, so i set the intensity to 5 for all slots.

PhotoShop CS2 also handles HDRI's. I just started creating, editing, resizing some with it.
Quick & easy.
Start with 8 bit jpg, convert to 16 bit, then 32 bit. Next stop Save As HDR.

but that's not really making a hdri. the image you create has no higher range.

Edit: I'm referring back to Zoppo's post.
True.
But it lights up my scene when put in the MXI/HDR slots in Maxwell.
So I can go to HDR file format with CS2 or MXI in Maxwell Viewer from an 8 bit jpg for my renders in Maxwell. The few tests I've made suggest the MXI is better for my needs.
Unfortunately, Maxwell won't allow me to save a render as a true HDR image. Hopefullly that will come soon.
But more important, is the fact CS2 allows me to open and edit real HDR images. This is particularly useful as Maxwell does not give me the control over an HDR that I was used to in Cinema's Advanced Render 2.5.
So, for example, if the HDR that is the topic of this thread is dark, that can be changed in CS2 and saved as a seperate scene.
