Any thought about the Dell Inspiron 640m with core duo T2500 and 2gb of ram and resolution at 1440 x 900? Is it a computer suitable for maxwell(with some long hour of rendering) and rhino 3.0 (soon 4.0)? I'm afraid it will be on fire?

Recent certain explosive problems with Dell laptops would make me to think atleast twice about wasting money on one.
You don't want to sit with a bomb like this on your lap

then you can wave bye bye to your family jewels..

woaw. is that for real? as in a real issue to consider, or could that happen to any brand you reckon?
i'm curious about the duo-core systems. will they decrease render time noticable?

I have a 9400 with much the same specs and I'm very happy with it. Nothing comes close for the cost and it came with a 3 year warranty and 1 year theft insurance.

Hi,
I've got a 9100, not so good of course
Its ok, I've left it rendering for a week without it dieing, my screen is crap though, lacking in colour depth or sharpness...
Oh yes, you also need a JCB to lift the thing!

It's not a dell but I have a Rock laptop and pardon the pun but it does rock!! It is the Xtreme 64, amd athlon 64X2 4200+ with 2Gb ram and a Nvidia Geforce Go 7800 GTX. It blows my dual Zeon 3.2 workstation out of the water!!
The website is
www.rockdirect.com/
They also deliver a site faster than Dell. I dropped my Alienware laptop down the stairs on a Monday

and had the Rock Machine on Thursday...not back me thinks.
Cheers
Neil
