Just a little anecdote about the Smith's, 'How Soon Is Now' :

In an interview of Johnny Marr for Guitar Player magazine(very early 80's), ....Marr was asked about how he created that famous reverberating sound for the song? Marr replied, ....[paraphrasing now], ..... that he had something like two Fender Twin's setup and mic'd while facing each other with a guitar set on top of one of the amps. With just the right amount of gain, .....the amps began to feedback and perfectly oscillate 'that sound'. He began recording...

Like, I said ....that's a general idea on how it was created and the details might actually differ, ....I read that such a long time ago now. Anyway, ....Marr did say that one of the biggest banes of his musical life was that on that day, ....he didn't write down a single setting and since then has NEVER been able to re-create the exact same sound/oscillation/tone again.

He didn't really need to, .....and shall we say, ............the rest is history. :)

Cool...I'm glad you're enjoying them. :) Does it mean that I'm old if this is the kind of stuff that comes to mind when I think of 'Modern Rock'? ...how depressing.
