If you could only recommend one (one, ONLY ONE) record/album/CD to someone, what would it be...?

That is waaay too general a question to answer...

Is that assuming the person has never heard any music whatever before?

Or are you basically asking what my favorite album/CD of all time is?

Need a little more to answer that.

Cheers, Ron

Nice!!! So what movie are you gonna take yourself to see on your date?

sorry couldn't resist.

BTW (I know you meant date as in give you age away but sounded funny anyways).

I'm not usually impressed by other people's musical preferences and they aren't usually impressed by mine. 8)

Hmmm, well off the top of my head (keeping in mind that this changes pretty much daily...)

First the "never heard any music before"; every civilization that has ever exisited (on Earth anyway, and let's not start a semantic argument that the cave-men didn't have music - unless you have first hand knowledge of such) has had music of some kind. This is what I like to call one of the "hard-wired" aspects of human nature. So let's just assume for arguments sake that they have heard music...

Secondly, I don't think it's such a broad question. To you, and Frances, I would rephrase it: If you could only recommend one "album" ( I still call CD's this as well...) that touches your soul, that you identify with completely, above all the other music you may have heard or in your private collection, what would it be. Frances, it doesn't matter if someone else likes it or not, it's not about that. I'm not asking for a "top of the charts" or what was popular in the a specific time, but more of a visceral response. I think all of us have a certain album that no matter the last time you heard it - if you play it every day or may have not listened to it in 20 years; there is one... a very large part of this question is this: If you tell me that "X" is your favorite; you don't have to say why, that you think it is THAT good, then I want to check it out. I may not like it, but knowing that it means so much to someone, and NOT "number one" because of the video with half-naked girls means much more to us as human beings...

As for myself; I have such an eclectic collection that it is not uncommon for me to play a complete violin CD followed by Skinny Puppy... I've found over the years that there is one underlying "feeling" that makes one piece of music suggest another, and it doesn't matter the genre...

with that, the question stands...

*** LAST THING *** Please complete albums, not songs... and include the name and artist; album cover art can be a little hard to read...

Well I'll get the red card for proposing two, but really, you can't listen to one without listening to the other: :)
