We have the same setup then :)
But I'm in the mood to treat myself with a little something something, but since the 70-200 VR seams to be out of stock at b&h I don't really know what to go for...

4Hero: The first one of your macroshots is a good one, i like that with th heavily blurred background and those colors. :) you should try recreating some of those photos in 3D. Btw, thanks :)

I went to town today as it's super hot and sunny here now, grabbed an icecream and while eating that a small insect landed at the edge of my table. Quickly i picked up my camera, flipped over to macromode and snapped a picture of it. :) unfortunately focus landed at the center of the insect and not at it's head where i wanted it. :(

A lowres version is here..

And a thumbnail link to the highres version...

Cool images you all, and maximus is back on track I see :D
I have to say I'm a bit stunned over the quality from the turning torso frames. I don't even know if my DSLR would have performed that well :)

But I pre payed for a Nikon 70-200 VR from B&H yersterday, so I'll go pick it up in NY the 26th of August, maybe then I can manage to snap some high quality shots myself!

Nice work guys!

Nice shots 4hero, Louis, and Max. That 50mm lens is fun as hell to use isn't it, Ludenhud recommended it to awhile back and I'm addicted.

Here's a few while times are slow

The second one really fits my taste, i love those long exposures.

What specific lens are you using*? I heard the smaller bodies (Nikon DX, Canon EF-S) give results different to the large bodies with the lenses not specifically designed for them. I'm planning to buy myself a proper DSLR+lens sometime and the lens mount topic still puzzles me.

* i'm sure it's somewhere among the 100 pages, but i'm too lazy to search.

Wicked photos killian!
Yeah, that 50mm sure is great!

I'm heading off to NYC the 26th of aug to pick up a 70-200 VR, so expect some telephotos from over there in early sep :)

Here's one more from me with that very same lense

Thanks! I don't know if you are referring to the lens that serve as a bottleneck for resolution, such as using a DX lens on a full frame sensor body? Is that what you're talking about? I know that there is a DX and an FX brand of lenses made by nikkor that are specifically made to use a camera to it's maximum pixel capacity.

I'm just using the standard 18-55mm DX kit lens on my d40x for the night shots, that is until I get the 10-20mm sigma, hopefully. I don't think you really have to worry about the lens you buy unless you are getting the new full frame camera bodies. I might be wrong about this, but you should be fine with just googling the body you have and the lens you're thinking about getting just to see if anyone has had trouble, or if their compatible. Then again, I'm a "Noob." :)

edit: Thanks Ludenhud. That photo is sharp as hell, nice!
