I have a drive that was my backup for files. It "died". Depending on the phase of the moon, it would either show up in Windows Explorer or not. When it did I couldn't read anything from it. I tried a few of the data recovery programs out there and found this to be the best: R-Studio http://www.data-recovery-software.net/ .
I'm recovering all the data from the drive right now. The software is relatively inexpensive comsidering what I may have lost. I also use this company's R-Wipe and Clean. It has many modes of completely wiping a drive. I defrag and then run R-Wipe.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not "Eureka!" but "That's funny ..."
