..in sketchup 5. rgb.mxs renders fine, but now when I export from Sketchup I get this error.. with osx 10.3.9
SketchUp: [BUG] Segmentation fault
ruby 1.8.1 (2003-12-25) [powerpc-darwin]
and this log is generated...
Exporting: /Users/jason/Desktop/box.mxs.log
Maxwell: Method setPhysicalSky, Error: Maxwell not initialized
Maxwell: Method createCameras, Error: Maxwell not initialized
Maxwell: Method Camera export, Error: createCameras
anyone have any idea? environment.plist is fine as far as I can tell..in both locations..I have maxwell in a separate folder in applications..

what 'thing' is that? I've placed the environment.plist in that folder and that's about it.. damn..this sucks.

I've tried installing maxwell into applications within my user...b/c what i find odd is that you create that hidden macosx folder within your user..but maxwell is installed in the root? I've also modified the environment file to be extremely exact...i dunno.

(I posted this reply yesterday in another thread on this topic).
I was able to fix my crashes on export from SketchUp (OSX 10.4.3, with both SKP4 and 5), by doing the following (after you have created/placed the environment.plist file as directed above).
1. Using TextEdit open the environment.plist file that you copied into the ~/.MacOSX folder.
2. On the line that says:
<string>/Applications/maxwell.app/Contents/MacOS</string>
Insert a ~ before the /Applications so that the line looks like :
<string>~/Applications/maxwell.app/Contents/MacOS</string>
3. Save and quit TextEdit.
4. Open SketchUp and try exporting to MXS.
Hopefully that helps, it worked for me.

yeah...still crashes for me too...
except, I get this error only..
SketchUp: [BUG] Segmentation fault
ruby 1.8.1 (2003-12-25) [powerpc-darwin]
not all that other stuff.

Sorry to get people's hopes up, including my own...
I'm back to getting the segmentation fault errors and crashes on export. So my 'fix' wasn't a fix at all. I reinstalled Maxwell, still no luck. RGB.mxs file renders fine, some MXS files that I was able to create (while it was working) still render fine.
[BUG] Segmentation fault
ruby 1.8.1 (2003-12-25) [powerpc-darwin]
I'm out of ideas.

what OS are you running? I'm on 10.3.9... gonna see if I can grab tiger from someone today....probably has nothing to do with it..but I'm willing to try anything!

I'm on OSX 10.4.3, so I don't think that's the issue. I get the segmentation fault with both SketchUp 4.0.173 (full-version) and 5 (demo).

I'm not even able to export in 4 for some reason.
anyway.. just got a reply from nextlimit about the segmentation fault and he said he's getting in touch with the sketchup guy...so hopefully we can get this resolved soon.

Thanks for the update marked001. If you find out anything more, I'd really appreciate it if you could keep us posted- especially since you've gotten one response from NextLimit.
(Let's hope they get this fixed, and that RC / v.1 don't bring along a whole new raft of errors).

my time is to expensive to work with unfinished plugins.
I'm a newbie in rendering, so i do not know if it's me or the plugin or the studio or the material or the light settings or the mapping or NL.....
If it's ready to work i'm sure it is me who's going wrong. That makes my work easier and the results fasten better.
I'm willing to wait before i'm beeing annoyed
