SketchUp>Maxwell material issues.

I've been learning to use the latest Maxwell release & plugin with SketchUp 5 and am having issues with the Maxwell materials.

In the Plugins>Maxwell export dialogue, you can set an object to have a Maxwell material. No problems until using dielectrics.

If I have 3 spheres and want each to have a different dialectric material, how do I do this?

I have been selecting a sphere, then assigning it a Maxwell dielectric shader. The dialectric options dialogue opens and I set the values to what I want.

Now when I try to assign a new dielectric material to another of the spheres, then the same material settings appear. If I change them, the settings change on the first sphere too.

How can I have more than one dielectric shader with unique settings to any others I have in the scene?

I have experimented with assigning different SketchUp materials to each sphere first, but still have the same results.

Metal shaders work, as in I can have one material gold, one silver etc on different objects.

SketchUp will also go straight to Bug Splat, if I try to load any jpg map as a Maxwell map. The SketchUp assigned material maps work fine.

Any help will be greatly recieved.

Thanks,

Tim.

I have not encountered any of the problems you mentioned. Are you using Mac?

No PC 2.6ghz P4 192Mb ram.

So are you able to assign a different dielectric material to different objects?

If so, does the dielectric pop up window contain the default values or those you entered for the last dielectric material?

Thanks,

Tim.

In the popup I get the same values as I set to the previous material. Making a change to the settings only affects the selected faces. So yes, I can make different dielectic materials. Making a change in one doesn’t affect the rest.
You mentioned applying the dielectic to objects, I noticed it is better to always apply the Maxwell settings on the face level. Does that help?
