Sketchup Groups Importing Into Maxwell Studio

I am currently having a issue importing Sketchup models into MR Studio. The groups I have assigned in SU remain intact in MR and sometimes even group together with larger number of items. My problem is then applying MR materials to my model? The ungroup toggle is not active and I cannot select items independantly to apply mats. Any suggestions or advise?

My two cents...
Explode your groups, and make them components while still selected. I have always had more control with components rather than groups.
I hope that this doesn't cause you to backtrack too much.

The most important thing to keep in mind - make sure you have "separate by material" option enabled in the export options. If you do this a group will be generated on Maxwell side which will include separate MX objects for separate SU materials - that would make the process of assigning materials simpler. If the option is off than a single object is generated for any group and materials are assigned on per-face basis - that makes it more complicated to assign different materials later on.
