Hi everyone,
Next Limit Technologies is pleased to announce an updated version of the Maxwell Render plug-in for SketchUp 6 for Windows and OSX.
Some impressive improvements and enhancements include:
- Maxwell materials are now assigned to SketchUp materials as opposed to geometry.
- Basic Maxwell material parameters can be specified directly inside SketchUp dialogs without the need to use MXM files.
- HTML-based panels for Maxwell Render parameters added: it is now much easier to set camera/environment/HDRI parameters for the scene.
- Support added to separate individual faces/groups/components sharing the same material into separate Maxwell Render objects.
- Maxwell Render camera field-of-view matches the field-of-view of the SketchUp camera if a Photographic Still 35mm camera is used in the Film&Stage plug-in of SketchUp.
- Names of individual materials are properly converted from SketchUp to Maxwell Render.
- Maxwell Render export help can be opened directly from the Ruby SketchUp plug-in.
- Fix: Normals were inverted when flipping components/groups – fixed.
- Fix: GMT offset was wrong on Intel Mac computers – fixed.
- Fix: multiple identical materials are no longer generated.
- Fix: AutoMXM support on OSX was fixed.
The updated plug-in is available from the customer download section.
Enjoy!
Nicole

Being an aethiest it's hard to have faith in God to lead you to the Maxwell Customer Download page. I always have to wait for the newsletter or email notice for this link.
I know it is likely hidden somewhere amongst the pages but I'll be probably burn in hell before I ever find it. I guess it will be heralded as one of the biggest keys to unlocking the true potential of Maxwell once someone is actually able to find it!

Exactly! I can find the link to download the demo but I don't need that just the updated plugin!
I'm not the only one who has trouble with this, I heard person after person complain about looking for the download area time and time again.
I guess I should have added it to my favourites when I was once directed there by the notification, just counted on those too much. Seems now they have stopped and one has to stumble on to an update or await the monthly newsletter.

I always go to the FAQ/Support > Download Instructions section of the forum whenever there is a new release announcement. It's just a couple of mouse clicks away

Other than saving it in your favorites, why don't you search in your mail for the right address?

Hello Pelias! I´ve been testing the new plugin and i have to say that works perfect , thanks a lot for this nice plugin!! . But i´ve a doubt about the scale, in the others (max,cinema..)plugin we have an option for scale but in sketchUp plugin not, what thas this mean, whatever unit i use to model export correct in the mxs file ,i mean , if i launch the render within sketchUp the units translate correct to maxwell or i´ve to model in meters to translate correct the units to maxwell.
Thanks in advance!

Jespi,
The scale is exported 1:1 from SketchUp, so it doesn’t matter if you use metric or feet etc.
If you do want to export out of scale you can use the SU tape measure tool & “scale model”.

Hello again:
I´m trying to match the maxwell camera to the sketchUp camera. I´m using the 35mm Still camera from film and stage plugin, like it´s said in plugin´s help pdf, but i can´t get the correct result. Does anyone a workaround for this?.
Thanks
