export results in explosion of textures and objects

when I export a SU file in Studio it imports in a total explosion of objects and materials. Only when I explode the model in SU I can export the model again and import it properly in Studio. Did not have this problem in the previous version.

well, just found that exporting to SU5 and then exporting to mxm is the solution. very frustrating the plugin for SU6 doesn't work. What I get from SU now is unusable. A simple box containing about 5 materials in SU imported in dozens of materials and objetcs of numbered duplicates.

please help to correct the plugin.

Hi Nils, will post my renderings when I have to the time to reduce them a little. Was very dissappointed with the outcome of the competition. I don't mind others winning but don't like to be mocked by a jury that doesn't know the program themselves and seemed to have a very half hearted interest the plans at the exhibit. Waist of time since there is no way to learn from this other than that in Stockholm a sketch of a half baked idea on a postcard would have been good enough.

Back to Maxwell, I work in Studio and do a lot of work there, with the present plugin and SU6 that is no longer possible. I use Studio to play with light and finetune textures and so on.

Thanks for your advise and I will try to see if there is a workaround for this problem

its like this:
draw a cube in SU6, export it to MXStudio. your texture is duplicated and renamed and the cube is devided into two, one pane in one group and the rest also one group.

Something weird happens in the export. Hope it can be solved.
Thanks to those who fit this in thier busy schedule. Would save me tons of time, quitting SU6, going back to SU5 and the start up 6 again. I am exporting my models in portions so this is a serious set back hoping to work in SU6. SU6 is much better, faster, mirror and paste in place makes modeling a lot easier. Hope I don't have to go back to 5 for th next months. I live by this work so any help is more then welcome.

i tested automxm and indeed you can just reduce the texture files for specific use in SU to keep things workable and have the maxwell materials go for the high res textures. Good solution and great plugin like that.

but I did my work in Studio which provided for projectors and so i was able to have a cabinet in wood partly perforated and have the wooden texture in line with the perforated parts. I really like to do texturing in Studio, or at least be able to do some final finetuning there. With the current plugin files import in Studio in a mess. I wonder even if all the duplicated materials and devided object does the rendering any harm in terms of speed

Mate I thought I was the only idiot? Seems I'm not alone!

The new V6 plug did the same for me and yep S...'s me to death!

Seems when you have components and make them unique each is attributed a new material. I did one export with one material for the window frames "Aluminium" on export I ended up with Aluminium 0 through to 12.

A list of 14 materials went to almost 80. And that was using the automxm.

I had a file that had 12 materials and ended up in the hundreds. I started working on them in Studio but it was useless. Too much work. Then I could not get SU 5 reinstalled with the plugins on my Macbook Pro. A few days later I had missed the deadline and lost a few thousand euro's. My own fault and will never update again like that.
Its weird to see that SU6 as well as Maxwell are as unreliable as IT was in the 80's. I do understand larger firms keeping things fixed on AutoCad and are very layd back updating anything too soon.

As I said in another thread I only use MR for exteriors and have now pretty much dropped the use of studio now the exporter has been broken again.

Dam I also find it amazing that NL are touting the new studio UI and material editor for the next release that I'm sure they will charge us for and yet to date I don't believe they have given us a version that actually works!

I know you say you use studio for interiors and if so I bet you have tried to bring in a chair, copy, move and rotate it to a new position - now tell me studio actually works!

I like to use studio to bring in trees but have to place the trees in SU and then export them as a separate file. If i bring in one tree copy, move, rotate, scale the branches and the leaves go spack!

IT'S BROKEN PLEASE NL FIX IT!

I never model in Studio. Just use it to blend parts modelled in SU. Thats works very well. I imported trees but nothing fancy. Hundreds of trees though that could not be handled in SU but was fast enough in Studio.

Studio worked fine with SU5. Perfect actually for me. Now with SU6 its all bad again, useless unless you do not texture in SU. I work like that now but to be honest, recent problems have stopped me from taking on other render jobs. I wonder really if Maxwell will keep SU around. The Indigo render app could chase all away from Maxwell in a matter of months. Especially now that the plugin is more or less broken. Saw also a newsletter with a rather uninspiring looking preview of what the next release is going to look like. I just don't know about Maxwell and Next Limit. I does not look good.

u have to keep faith in SU+MR because:
- Su is going to be the world leading 3D software in the near future: google bought it, and its user base is just going to increase like crazy. Kids will begin to use it, everyone is going to use it its so simple!

- MR is already working with SU, so all it needs to work better is a few developpers ( which we dont have now). They do not have to start from scratch.

- SU to rendering software is happening now because of the number of available rendering solution is increasing, MR is the best still, but competition ( especially vray) is catching up. MR still leads for a short while...

Nils
Patient, but needs a sign of MR that they are working with us!. I cant believe the Rhino plug in is so complete when our plugin hasn't changed since beta version...

BE PATIENT! I think we have been! When you think what one guy has done so far with Indigo and it works a charm in beta I not feeling such a need to be patient with nextlimit anymore!

We almost had a working combination but now it's broken again! That's not asking to be patient, it's asking to absorb more insult!!!

Sorry!
