plug-in: no editor & textures

hi all...

i have just installed maxwell again after almost a year of hibernation. i got the latest version 1.1UB and su2mxs 1.6.

when in SU using the plug in, nothing having to do with materials works... the material editor doesn't open when selected, and i can not apply mxm's in sketch up. also, when i apply SU materials, the scene won't render... it just goes into maxwell and nothing happens.

anyone know what's up?

when it's just colors, no textured materials, maxwell will render with default materials.

also, in studio, the render button doesn't respond (i tried to apply textures manually).

i hope one of you might know where to start with this... thanks!

It's an automxm issue

Hey turgeman,

It is an Automxm issue. I had the same problem myself. check out my posting on this forum

just a few postings ago. There is a group of guys that made some default materials that work just awesome mirroring the Maxwell default materials. If you are on windows it is very straight forward.

Hi There,

I have been using SketchUp Pro6 now since the new release.
I then after modelling and texturing I save it as a SKP 4 file.
Then from there will export it to Maxwell as my work around.
The export also exports certain component default people and SU 4 still brings them in.

You will also export a new folder that has the texture images from the SK6 version.

This is my work around.

Regards,
Nigel.

hey guys... thanks for the response!

i also thought it might be an automxm issue. only trouble is that i'm not using auto mxm. what happens is that any model i put in that has any textures, does not get rendered. maxwell opens, but the status says "done" immediately. if i strip that model of all it's textures, it will render properly.

i have noticed that with out textures, the export doesn't have a texture folder along side it in the directory of the mxs file. this is the difference for me between what renders and what does not. when that folder is present, i know maxwell will not render, and i go in and find the texture and erase it. then no problem.

nigel, thanks for the work flow work around... i tryed it, but so long as my models have textures, maxwell doesn't want to render...?

any advice would be helpful... maybe i'll try to erase and re-install

Missing texture maps are making your Maxwell Render fail.

You have to open the materials in MXED and relink the textures. Then export save over the material. I find if I do that, the material then works and doesn't make the render fail.

thanks chris... i'm new at this, but i think i know what you are talking about. i'll give it a try and let you know what happened. do i do this for the whole material library? is there a reason they are not linked?
