How to replace existing MXS References

I'm working on a project in Studio where a number of custom made Maxwell assets (landscaping) have been imported to supplement the model. In some instances, the landscape model is a copy with different materials applied to represent the different colours of the plants of similar species. Is there a quick way to replace existing Maxwell Reference files with another? Ideally, selecting existing MXS References in Studio, then Replace_With, and then select the alternative MXS file to import so the replacement file occupies the same positions in the model.
The ability to "Replace With" can also be useful for vehicles, people, furniture etc. where the same MXS model, but with different materials/colour schemes, can quickly be imported to add variety to a scene using a limited number of assets.

I'm working with Maya and when I place MXS reference, I have the file name in the attributes editor in Maya. I duplicate the MXS as an instance and then if I change the file name in the attributes editor, it will change all the instances to the new MXS reference. Is that what you where asking? I'm not sure how it's done in Studio but probably the same.

Hello,

I'm afraid this may come in very late, but you can do so by selecting the MXS reference and going to the Attributes Panel > Geometry tab > and in the File field, select a different MXS file.

Best regards,
Fernando

Hi Choo-Chee, Fernando,

Thanks for the responses. Better late than not at all - I'm sure it will be useful for future work :-)
