•FAQ• lamp shade

hi everybody
I got a room full of ceiling lights with textile lamp shades. the easiest way is to make the shade itself shine, but the result is not very convincing.
I fear that if I create a correct material (maybe even with sss) it would create a lot of noise! Because basically the whole room is lit through a material.
Does anybody have any experience with this?
thanks a lot!

I'm speaking of an effect like this.
there don't has to be much structure on the material but not a flat emitting surface.

I have done it before, but the lamps were not the main form of lighting in the room. I used an emitter texture and multilight. I think you're right about using SSS or thinSSS for the main lighting in the room. It would be very difficult to clean up. Maybe you could use SSS, but fake some extra lighting.
