Having just posted tha i'm not really sure how it works. I assumed you could load nk values like listed here:

http://www.luxpop.com/RefractiveIndexList.html

And save them as an IOR file. But it seems like you need to adjust the RGB thing within the software to get a load of nk values and then save as an IOR. Maybe I'm missing something but I think thats mainly what it does.

Ok, question time. All of the complex IOR files seem to only list the refraction indexs and the extinction coefficient. This works fine for stuff like glass.

But what about the reflectance data? How is this incorporated? Can I provide measured reflectance data from varying viewing angles to an IOR file? Is there a more robust documentation of the struction of Maxwell's IOR files?

I am also looking for detailed documentation regarding Maxwell's IOR file syntax, as well as the ability to dynamically control reflectance (specifically for reflections and not so much for GI).

I think I found an old post that describes what the values in the IOR files actually mean:

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... OR#p313694

Turns out it's not driven by angle (like the 0 deg / 90 deg colors) but is specifically related to the frequency of light energy being used on the material.

I don't think this holds the key to customizing reflectance curves.
Will there be a Maxwell Render 6 ?

Let's be realistic. What's left of NL is only milk[…]
