so what is the situation on using 2 bsdf layers now . is that workflow obsolete compared to just using this 1 layer , transmitance map approach..

I like this workflow way better

One question: If we want to avoid those tiny white dots at the clipmap border what should we do? I guess two options: more photoshop work (uff!) or make two layers, one ghost and one opaque with the tree picture weightmapped with a greyscale mask.

BTW: What kind of images are supported right now? greyscale, B/W,...

Hey, Great tutorial... but the trim is very time consuming...
When dealing with Alpha channel clipmaps I've never seen a softare better than this one ... http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite? ... 7022702205

Yes I know it is from Corel :o) but Corel Knockout is rock solid and it is only $99. but you can find it even cheapper on www.pricegrabber.com
