Fans running uncontrolled are typical to a G5 crash.
It happens with certain buggy SW when the kernel crashes.
The fans run at full speed, because they are controlled by the systeand if after a crash they would stop, your G5 would melt... so as a precaution, when the system freezes the fans go to full speed to protect your machine!

OTOH I haven't heard another situation of MR creating this kind of crash.

Check your RAM chips and your HD.
Is this a new G5?

try a few memory intensive RAM projects (like M~R) does.
If you get more kernel panics, then test your RAM chips.

Hi guys
if anyone want to test their Ram, they can use Memtest, which is a freeware and you can D/L it from Version Tracker. Just a little hint.

cheers
