latest viewer not updating

I'm running a test of Maxwell on a LINUX box at my work place (Red Hat 4.0) with the Mayall plugin - I noticed that I was only able to render interactively once - from then on the viewer came up and froze - I can't get an image to render to it - I can render from the command line, yet if I use the "-d" flag, same thing - FROZEN. Is this a known issue? I wonder why it would work the first time but after that NOTHING?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanks,
jep

after a reboot I got the same behaviour - worked the first time interactively, then a frozen maxwell viewer from then on... The viewer just pops up and freezes - I can't change tabs - I can't use drop down menus - nothing.

actually, I don't believe I get any message but I'll check - I loaded onto RHEL 4.0 because it wouldn't work on RedHat 7.3 at all. What is the optimum Linux environment?
Thanks,
Jep

Thanks Pablo - I'm thinking if it's for RedHat 9 it should work with RedHatEnterpriseRelease 4 -
What version of gcc/kernel is it compiled with?
cheers
