How do you use an angle map to produce small clumps of grass, such as those that would grow between cracks in a walkway (brick or cobblestone)? I've created the material and used a mask so that the grass grows in the right locations, but it's always a single blade of grass and I would prefer small clumps. I'm using the Maxwell Plugin for Maya. Thank you!

I think you can use the density map mask with shades of gray for this. not sure...

Better to use a hair system and clone grass geometry instances onto the hairs, that way you can use the hair tools to trim the weeds back. Or just arrange instances with a cloner driven by a texture, like using the top view of the pavement.. printscreen... touched up as a texture to drive the weeds.
Depends which tools you have, I would only use maxwell grass for a lawn really... or a furry grass creature...
