Next week we will update the cinema plugin with bugs fixed with phong and tiles.

I have a Cinema scene here that crashes the Maxwell renderer after voxelisation:
http://klausbusse.de/Temp/Maxwell/DinisCrash.zip

It's not the number of polygons - it has just ~2.5 k Polygons.

A simpler variant of the scene renders with HN punped up to 4 with no problems (3 instances ~3MPolys). I take an educated guess that it's the holes or something with the UV coordinates.

Hope it helps to track this down.

Cheers

Even if the Cinema plugin delivers bad data, the application should bail out more gracefully ;-)

I has crash too with complex geometry after voxelisation, so I back to cinema and delete all phong tags, I hit render again (waiting the FAMOUS crash) but for my surprise the render run smoothly and end without problems. After this successfully render I made another test, in this case I made a simple geometry sphere and plane with its own phong tags and hit render, the render end without problems too. After this test I made some more (large geometry with phong tags"CRASH", same geometry without phong tags"NO CRASH", small geometry with phong tags "NO CRASH", same small geometry without phong tags"NO CRASH").
The only thing I can guess is the "marriage" between complex geometry and phong tags doesn't work very well. :?
I have divorce them before I hit render
This is a proof
Image
As you can see the scene has a lot of vertices, and the size of mxs file is 268 MB and the size of cinema file is 28.3 MB.
So please NL team check this out.
PS. Another thing NL team "INSTANCES" please make RENDER INSTANCES :D

MR 1.2.2 Beta (working)

No, that is not par... Cinema can't do anything if a plugin goes berserk, that's the price you pay to let other stuff running in your application context.

Crash bug with my scene still persists with 0.6. I guess after all this is still a bug that has nothing to do with the plugin.
