alright i will post here my bug finding so its easier for devs to fix them and track them down, unless there is another way to send bugs

1) V4 Material editor standalone: Open Material editor standalone > go to top menĂ¹ > Preview > Options > Switch quality from Draft to Production > press Ok > Click on "Update" button to have it render the preview, it gives you a "Preview error: Not licensed for Production use. Render cannot continue." Needless to say my V4 is fully licensed, and if you do this same procedure within Maxwell Studio in the material editor, it doesnt give you any error.

2) Maxwell Studio: weird behaviour of the priority mode in render options> scene "Low/Normal". When you have the priority set to Low, most of the times when you launch the render it doesnt use your full cpu, sometimes it stucks at using 2% of your whole CPU power even if its a sphere on a plane with default sky/sun setup. I've checked this multiple times and can repro this very often.

Altho it doesnt occur 100% of the cases, and sometims is more often present if you switch from CPU to GPU then back to CPU.

I've just read the comment from another user about the cpu set to automatic, and i can confirm this is also a problem "Another problem that I've had is that when "CPU Threads" is set to "Automatic", v4 will only use one thread when it should be using all of the available threads on my machine. I had to manually set the number of available threads just so that my CPU would be used at 100% capacity. This is a bit awkward as I have render farm computers with differing numbers of Threads. "

3) Another little feedback, the new material library, when you search for materials within the material editor web browser, it feels very much heavier than v3 on the preview especially, thumbnails and double click preview takes quite a bit to load. Is there a way we can speed up these a bit? maybe lower the preview thumbnail image size.

Im testing a bit the gpu engine but i have a 770 only and the whole computer becomes very unresponsive when i render with maxwell. Not to count the ram fills pretty quickly.
My hope is that they are not going to focus everything on GPU unless they find a way to bring data simultaneously to CPU and HD ram, and unload from the GPU calculation, at the moment is extremely heavy. Something on the line of what Redshift does.

Having Maxwell being speed up by gpu is fine, but i am not sure GPU can replace fully CPU, unless the GPU engine is extremely polished and integrates every feature without a blink. This will take long time imo. What i mean is, i'd like also to see some updates and further improvement on CPU side (embree and such), on parallel with GPU.
This gpu integration left a lot to desire, i understand its the first step, but it is also very very premature and unusable in production.
