Dear All, has anybody a solution or workaround to make Maxwell 3 with RLM-License Server running under OS X 10.10 (preview)?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I was able to make Maxwell working. Sorry, I don't remember the details, I had to revert back to 10.9.x and will hold on until the release or very late beta. As far as I remember there was something wrong with the rlm server located at /Users/Shared/NextLimit/rlm_nl

I can't remember exactly, what was wrong, sorry. Try http://localhost:5054/ to see if server is running first.

Thanks Andrey!
Yes, The problem is not Maxwell itself, it is the crappy licensing server (RLM). The server is not running....
The answer I've got from the support was to revert back to 10.9. - what in my case would be a too big hassle...
Interestingly Maxwell 2.7.2 runs smoothly under 10.10 so I thought V3 would made ist also.
But the licensing system is stopping the paying customer here...what a shame.
If you could remember any other detail that helped you make it work I really would appreciate it.
Best,
Roman

Please check if /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nextlimit.maxwellrlm.plist is present.
Try "sudo launchctl list com.nextlimit.rlm" in terminal

Hi Andrey,
I've tried http://localhost:5054/ and it cannot be connected, means it is not running.
The /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nextlimit.maxwellrlm.plist is present.

Terminal-try turned out this:
{
"LimitLoadToSessionType" = "System";
"Label" = "com.nextlimit.rlm";
"TimeOut" = 30;
"OnDemand" = true;
"LastExitStatus" = 256;
"Program" = "/Users/Shared/NextLimit/rlm_nl/rlm";
"ProgramArguments" = (
"/Users/Shared/NextLimit/rlm_nl/rlm";
"-c";
"/Users/Shared/NextLimit/rlm_nl/licenses";
"-dlog";
"/Users/Shared/NextLimit/rlm_nl/logs/maxwelllog.log";
);
};

The RLM is not active or running. Any clue what this terminal output is saying?
Thanks.
Roman

Hi, Roman.

Please check the existence of files mentioned in the output of launchctl. Also check the contents of maxwellog.log. You may also want to read system log filtered with "rlm" to see anything suspicious.

Hi, Andrey,
Thank you for your Help again.
It is working now...I followed your advise and checked the files from launchctl. I then rebuild the Folder manually (because there is no access, all files are hidden). I 've downloaded the latest version from the RLM-provider (http://www.reprisesoftware.com/enduser_ ... eement.php) and put the files in the right location. Then I've started the rlm-server manually and did a restart of the computer.
But this process is kind of weird and uncertain.
This is another source of good information regarding licensing issues:

I am glad it's working for you now. But remember, Mac OS X 10.10 is for developers, it is not meant for production, you can't blame any third party for not supporting it. It is not even supported by Apple :wink:

Yes, it is a "Preview" Version, but also it is not an entirely "New" System. It is a move from 10.9 to 10.10. Main changes are on the surface: the user interface.....so I wonder why some apps are not working. The most are working, even with the new interface rules...
But who knows.
Nevertheless it is nice to work with it and now the "only" problem with Maxwell is solved to. Happy.
