Crash when using Instancing

I have a scene with one instanced object. When I render the scene from Maya with the option "Maya Instances to Maxwell Instances" on, Maxwell Render will crash. This also happens when I first export the scene to MXS.
When I trun the feature "Maya Instances to Maxwell Instances" off, the scene renders just fine.

The crash is caused by the material, or to be more exact by the texture in the material. This scene renders just fine with instances in Maxwell 2.7.

You can get the .ma and .mxs file with the texture here:

I think it would be best to post this in the Maya plugin forum. I don't get any crashes here rendering the MXS from Studio (3.0.0.3). Have you tried with the latest betas of the Maya plugin and Maxwell Render? Latest Maxwell beta is 3.0.0.4.

Since the crash happens in Maxwell Render (or Studio here as well), I figured that it it not a bug in the Maya plugin.
I get the crash when rendering from Maya, from Studio and from Maxwell Render. Using v 3.0.0.3 on Mac OS and Win 7 on two different machines. I will try the latest beta right now.
