Saving files issue

We've been dealing with a number of problems in Maxwell Render.
First of all - the MXI file is always by default placed in /Documents/ folder.
That causes its override with every new rendering. I saw in options that you can choose the image/mxi file to be placed 'in the projects folder' - when ticked it still doesn't work. Is that a bug here? It is extremely time consuming and stressful to double check each time if the mxi is placed correctly in the project folder (we have to do this a thousand time manually with each rendering).

Second - The mxi file together with the image doesn't save on our computer. We put the rendering files in a public folder. Yesterday I lost 2 complete renderings to that mess. I assumed the files were in the folder and closed the app. It didn't prompt me that the files aren't saved or anything, that isn't normal.
Today, after a night of rendering it still hasn't saved the files - they are old (old image and mxi from yesterday). When I tried to save them there (the public folder on the computer) manually it didn't save at all (and didn't give any feedback or error msg that the file cannot be saved). Nothing. You would assume its saved but when we looked in the folder its not there. Then I tried to save it on desktop and it worked.

Can someone please explain to me why this is happening?

Are you using the default save path for each new render? That is dangerous. Why not define a specific saved image/mxi path for each render?
