Pressing "render frame" and nothing happens

I think I managed to install Maxwell on myG5, 2ghz dual processor correctly. The plugin interface looks straight forward. So I can't imagine I can be doing much wrong by pressing the render button trying to render my scene (as one would). I imagined a render window would appear as a result of this informing me of the rendering progress, but nothing happens.
Have I missed something very obvious?

Me thinks you haven't managed the installation correctly, to me it seems that the environment variable is set wrong, but i am not sure. Which software/plugin are you using ?

Hi Ingo,
Thanks for your reply (I used to live in Hamburg). You are probably right not having installed it properly (I am using Lightwave 8.3). I am so used to clicking an installer icon, that anything deviating from the path makes my eyes glaze over. I was ecstatic when I discovered there was a plugin which I could drop into my plug-in thingy. I am a simple artist-type sort of guy, used to pressing mouse buttons, when it comes to code I turn into a zombie.
Reading the "Readme" was akin to trying to decipher ancient Greek and trying to understand what a ".plist", a "property list editor app" or the enigmatic "Terminal.app" is, filled me with awe and admiration for all the guys out there, who have reached the lofty heights of Maxwell wisdom.
But I am keen to learn and grateful for any information. :D
Thanks for your help,
Jurgen
