Just a quick question...

hello

I would say no, unless you're using the 64-bit preview of the renderer (which has no GUI, i.e. you must run it from the command line). The main renderer is only 32 bit > so limit of addressable RAM. :(

Hopefully v2 may have a 64-bit implementation of the renderer with GUI. :)

Are there any other advantages of using the 64-bit version of mxcl?

I think the 64-bit version is slightly faster, take a look at benchwell and you can see a slight speedup. hopefully this will be better in future with Snow Leopard and full 64 bit system and better multi-core support (if NL build MXWR to make use of it !) See my other post shamelessly trying to get some info out of NL on this subject

the main advantage is having more memory for larger scenes and hopefully all rendering should be able to take place in RAM, with little or no swapping of data to HDD's = faster I would believe. This has certainly proved correct in thing like Alias in the past.

anyways, back to work - best regards
