Studio 1.7 OSX -- Slow

I've noticed a problem opening mxs files created on an XP machine and exported to the MAC using Pack & Go. This has not been a problem on my MAC (2.8 octocore) with 1.5 through 1.6.8.

Studio 1.7 (OSX)
A simple scene takes minutes to load and when it does load, the scene seems to cycle through screen redraws multiple times and other calls to the software -- not clear why? In fact, once the scene has been fully loaded, Studio response lags to commands.

Studio 1.7 (OSX) I've noticed that Studio 1.7 does not automatically load or create a default material...(XP 1.7 seems to create it automatically when opened). This may be why it gives errors when trying to render. Shouldn't Studio assign a default material to any unassigned triangles when asked to render?

Yes, happens to me, too. Studio is very slow. Sometimes I don't see anything in the main 3D window except a white blank screen. Have to restart Studio to see my mesh. And then it still is VERY slow in responding to my commands.

In this state it's unusable for my purposes...I haven't even tried to create something with Studio 1.7 (OSX) to see if it's a problem with importing.

Q2-

Try fixing disk permissions...doing that appears to have fixed my issues!

Repairing disk permissions

Hi jvm

Didn't do the trick here.

Studio is still very slow. It seems as if it is a openGL driver problem since some of my materials in the Object List look not correct. And my viewport does only show me a wireframe view. Texture Decal View and other views don't show anything but a white screen.
This way 1.7 on my Mac's is not workable, have to go back to 1.6 for now, even though I do like all the improvements!

B U M M E R

Anyone any ideas?

You can check two things, fist be sure that VBOs are selected in preferences, if so then try changing with OpenGL multithreaded on and off. There have been several improvements in OpenGL for this version, so it should work faster not slower.

Yes, in addition to fixing permissions...Under Preferences...I had also checked Verbex Buffers "ON" -- I think by default, it's off.

Maybe this is too late to revive this thread but I did just have some experience with this...

I had a scene which was insanely slow, it took 5 minutes to select a single object. Then I hid some of the objects in the scene because they weren't in the view of the camera and the whole thing sped up immediately. The objects in question were very large, not in polygon count but in physical dimension (they were low-poly mountains as background), like probably about 30km across. As soon as the mountains were gone everything became snappy again.
