I'm looking into replacing my Quad G5 (4 GigRAM).

I read that there were firefly problems on the MacIntel machines.
Is this still the case?

Also...
MacPRO Quad or Octa? I looked at the "Benchwell" site.
Seems like a 2X impovement with Octa. Correct?
Is upgrading from a Quad(G5) to another Quad (Intel) even worth it?

I'm not sure what you mean by fireflies, but even a Quad Intel Mac Pro will be faster than a Quad G5, but if you have the means, go get the 8-Core Xeon, but don't bother getting Ram upgrades from Apple, as you can get Apple-certified Ram upgrades online for MUCH less than Apple charges.

Just my two cents.

By fireflies I meant the white Specks in some of the Maxwell renders. I had read that that was an issue on the Macntels......
