Limited success, but not enough to continue wasting time on it. Needs to be friendlier at finding / managing textures. I would always get render failed due to a missing texture on one machine etc. Since I only use 2 machines, i find it better to just render a different image on the other computer to get twice the output as opposed to using two machines on one image. I am still hopeful that things get easier.

we have network rendering working fine and is very stable compared to other programs we have used.

only problem we ran into was file permissions which under mac os x is a night mare that apple dose not seem to fix. we used a program called "super get info" to change the permissions as the get info in mac lets you think it has done the job on the folder and sub file but when you check nothing in the folder has changed.

i would check the the slave computer is able to mount the server on the desktop.
you can copy all the files to the maxwell folder on the slave machine again check it has the permissions to use them.

yes, it works, but.....

I've typed (by hand!) the full pathname, e.g. //server/public/packandgo/image01.mxs (same for *.hdr and *.mxi). using the ip instead of 'server' did not work for me (annoying, i would like to render over the net, e.g. using home and office computer...).

cooperative workes too but i got some strange lines in the result (not sure why), so i gave up on that.

i had to fudge the firewall on both, mac and windows pc. not sure if this is actually healthy! Anyway, there appears to be no documentation on firewall settings (ports, and so on).

So if Next Limit could provide some better documentation and an improved user interface, this would be a big plus.
