First of all thanks NL for responding so quickly. Thumbs up!!!!!
AND THE PREVIEW AND THE RENDER WORK NOW! YES YES YES!!!!!
But I still have some problems. For example is the compass in the viewport washed out and hardly visible.
But thanks anyway. Great fast response! Weekend rendertime will be mine!

No nothing so far. Works fine, looks fine, no dots. The same applies for my Dual Core MacPros 2.66 GHZ. Also no dots. And I chose a really BIG scene with app 4 Million polygons.
Will do some more testing though and will post the results.

Tom,
How is it that one Mactel 8 core system has dots and the doesn't if this is a compiler related issue? Could there be ANYTHING I should look for in my scene that might be causing the dots? As I can't open my materials in 1.1 anymore, I will have to rebuild them all again un;less i can quickly get 1.5 to render without dots.

Because the compilers cook the given instructions specific to hardware/OS and there are some differences between these systems. Different executables compiled from same sources could have problems with different configurations due to tiny limitations/problems/bugs. They sometimes need an extra touch to run the things smoothly. Of course, you shouldn't worry about this. I just try to explain a bit to quench your worry. The wounds will soon be healed.
