The new version is something...something...WOW! I did not installed MW on my PC partition and so i can't make comparisons with it. But the comparison with the way it used to run under OSX is astonishing. No delays in updating values or whatsoever in Studio 5x speed for MW.
Thanx NL!

is that using the nw plugins or just rendering older mxm files. would you advise me to update my macbook pro. i don't have the proper plugin yet for sketchup but i don't care as long as studio will work with mxm files generated by whatever plugin was made. i will keep my imacs G5 for exporting from sketchup and transfer the files to my macbook for rendering.
are you sure your system is on multiple processors since there seems to be a problem with one the forum members getting only a single processor perfromance.
hope you can help me out since i need to do some serious rendering this weekend and the update could help me out a lot.

It's maya69 who has problems with multi processors. Anyway, sure, in activity monitor mxcl uses about 200%, that means that both processors are used, foor what plugins are concerned, i used the new Cinema4D plugin.

I know it's uncool to double post but I ran a quick speed test and posted in the Speed Test thread, but I thought some OSX guys might miss it there, so here it is again.
Firstly I am thrilled to bits to see the new Universal version for the Mac. I really appreciate the work that the Next Limit team have done to get this out to us. Nearly all of the little bugs that showed up as differences between the XP and OSX version have been sorted out. Thanks guys.
Now the results of my test are slightly disappointing for OSX fans.
The History
My Mac Pro scored very well running Version 1.0 on XP (with Boot Camp)
Dual Processor Apple Mac Pro (4 cores)
Xeon 2.66 GHz 4GB RAM
Version 1.0 - Windows XP Pro in Boot Camp
Benchmark= 91.31
Time= 46 minutes 58 seconds
Now we know that Version 1.1 takes longer to reach the same SL, but is better quality for that SL level. The test with XP installed on Boot Camp and Version 1.1 resulted in the following:-
Version 1.1 - Windows XP Pro in Boot Camp
Benchmark= 39.68
Time= 1 Hour 47 minutes 58 seconds
The UB Version
Bit slower than the XP version.
Version 1.1UB - OSX
Benchmark= 32.13
Time= 2 Hrs 13 minutes 10 seconds
Now it may be that the SL levels are again not comparable, but if not then the OSX version is around 20% slower than the XP version.
Still really thrilled with it though. It is a huge speed jump from my old Pentium 4!

I have put aside MW for awhile, because I was fed up with the poor performance of 1.0.
Did some tests so far and I really regain my enthusiasm for that product. Much faster, much crisper.
I love it...
Thanks NL
