Hello,
Maxwell, mxstudio and mxed doesn't launch on my Powerbook G4 (1,67Ghz, 1Go, OX 10.4.6, i'm admin on)... just one bounce (or half bounce) in the dock and disappear ! i put the license.dat at the good place...
On my G5, same installation, work perfect !
An idea ?
Thanks a lot

No problems here with both studio and mxed on my PB 12" G4 1Ghz, maybe a network problem?

I think Maxwell is very sensitive to files that are not quite right. I would begin with new "clean" files and see what happens.

I just installed maxwell on our mac for the first time...no version has ever been on the mac before. The problem is I can't get mxcl to launch. Within studio, when I hit render, nothing happens. Within SU, when I export to render nothing happens.
I have the license file in the maxwell folder, but I don't know what else to check.
Help.

You completed both portions of the Maxwell installation?
1. mxStudio -- click on the help menu and load the license.dat file
2. Maxwell (stand-alone renderer) control click on the app and then place the license.dat file inside the Mac OS folder
NL hasn't done a great job of explaining this so I hope this helps.

That worked. I don't really use macs so I didn't even know that you could control click to get to those other folders.
Thanks!!

control click is like the second click or right click on a mouse. mac multi-button mice work the same way. I use the Mac multi-button mouse.

it's just an authorization's problem on OSX :
with BatChmod application (freeware), set the authorization at R/W/X, everywhere, and, it's important : 'folders and files included'.
Apply and Enjoy

I downloaded the program and applied those settings first to the Maxwell folder and then again to the whole hard drive. I also have a copy of the license.dat file in the Contents Mac os folder for Maxwell studio and Maxwell render. Regardless Maxwell studio runs and is licensed but when I go to render my computer locks up; or if I try to just open Maxwell Render nothing opens, is there anything else I should change?
Power Book Pro, 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM,120GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB GDDR3 memory....

I don't think it runs on MacIntel.
I don't know if they're working on a macintel version....

I got it to work but had to reinstall the mac os, without any updates and it works fine. I think the security update is causing Maxwell renderer not to work.
I also contacted nextlimit~
Hi Aria,
at the moment we don't have any experience with Intel powered Macs, so
maybe it's some sort of incompatibility with Maxwell, and the updates
for Intel-Macs. Right now Maxwell is not a Universal Binary, it's a
PowerPC application which must run thru Rosetta, and maybe this is the
source of this problem. We are working on a Universal binary version of
Maxwell which is supposed to be available at the end of this month and
run faster than the current version.
