Applied bitmap 101

I am trying to apply a jpeg of a bamboo floor to a material.

How do I do this?

I am really confused.

The manual speaks of projectors. I cannot seem to find a projector editor.

I'd like to start a positive discussion on how to use this mercurial unfinished software.

Thanks!

I have trouble applying textures. The behaviour is absolutly not predictable. Some render, some don't, no matter which steps I do to apply them. When I apply textures in Studio it will not work at all. The only success I had so far was with the formz plug-in, but again, some render some don't. The G4 Mac Maxwell is just one huge softwarebug.

Even your tips won't work for me at all...sigh!!! Lucky you have a pc

I am going to do a step-by-step with illustrations.

I cannot get Maxwell to work for me on either my G5 or G4.

So let's see what we all can learn about this.

If you opt to not use a plug-in, but rather import *.obj files directly into Studio for composition, etc. this is your tool:

http://www.uvmapper.com/

for control over your UV maps. Some apps don;t export normals in UV maps (Lightwave for example) and others don't give flexibility in the way the maps are unwrapped, etc. This is a nice app and the free version does a ton. PC and Mac.

The "projectors" in Maxwell are UV maps. I have a problem with UV maps in the Reflectance channel rendering in the "Preview" window of studio but appearing all BLACK when sending the rendering job to Maxwell. This is a bug others are experiencing, I believe, so, well, there you have it.

Mac G4, 10.4.4, 1.25 Dual proc. at work and home. The one at work has the BLACK bug, the one at home does not. Go figure. :)
