Hello bbuxton,

Good to see some form of progress.
Tell me pleasse did you bring in an ".obj" from lightwave or was it exported from FormZ?
For me bringing in data is very difficult, so I am looking for a solution since NextLimit have left us to our own devises.

If you could post a small log of how you got this far would be helpful thanks.

This was from Lightwave exporting as OBJ. LWO does not work.
Also I had to use separate by surface plugin to break up the model as the OBJs get imported as a single group.
As an after thought I may try using Lightwaves surface to parts plugin to see if the OBJ groups show up in MXStudio.
I haven't tried Form*Z because it often breaks my UV's

Hello bbuxton,

Can you spare me some time here, please.
Is the Plugin in in Lightwave "Utilities>Additional>Parts to Surface"
If so would you write a step by step list.
I have tried this already and exported the ".obj" but everything I have brought into mxStudio has caused it to crash.

Just found it under "View > Selection Sets."
Do you then have to do this for every material?

Any suggestions, Thanks.

Plugin in in Lightwave "Utilities>Additional>Surface to parts"
You will need to select the polys for each part and reassign the material.

However the resulting OBJ now crashes MXStudio.
I ran the modified LWO through Modo but MXStudio no longer sees the UV's.

I am too busy this week, but will see if I can get good results straight from FormZ after the weekend. Else I'll wait for the plugins.

Are you using Lightwave/Form•Z? Modo?

If I get a project to work I'll post the files.

Hello bbuxton,

Thanks for the time.
I am using modo, Lightwave and SketchUp.
Haveing a lot of trouble, way too much time wastede on something that wil hopefull change anyway with the Lightwave Plugin.
Which I thought was meant to be the original reason for buying Maxwell.

Thanks again and keep posting...
