until now only the mxw demo scene (nloffice.mxs) with maxwell CL and an odd triangulated imported OBJ file from studio. nothing i would like to show in the forums, LOL.

Did the .obj file import correctly?

I get a black screen or some lines--nothing I can use.

Why is this so difficult?

Yes, exported triangulated mesh as .obj from c4d, import in studio and set up materials etc. Render works fine

That's the Mac version, correct?

PLease explain your process in detail!

from another thread:

Has any tester actually cranked out a single image using the OS X version
that was not based on a windows scene?

here come a first try! model is from a cgtalk challenge... not really amazing for 1h render time on a powermac quad... i'm using 2 colored emitters and a white skydome. model is an OBJ imported into modo, tripled, then re-exported as OBJ and loaded into studio.

and here the same scene but with other materials and skylight with sun. a bit à la jeff koons :) - render time 30 minutes. i wonder what the black areas (like on the right border of the plate) are? seems like a weird imported geometry problem.

...and one more version in gold

The sheer number of obvious issues is insulting. It really looks like they
started to work on the Mac version on January 17th.

Kabe
yes, the OSX version seems all done in a big hurry... but on the other side the pressure to get something out was enormous. i guess most of the issues can be fixed rather well...

i hope NL will deliver soon a version for the frustrated G4 users. this should be absolute priority. then, i'm curious if they worked on the plugins or if we get only a recompile of the old messed up stuff.

Yes, Mac version.

Well, I triangulate my meshes in c4d and export the whole scene as a .obj file.
Then I import it in studio, set up materials etc and render, re-render, re-render etc

Hello laurindel,

Can I ask please how are you texturing. Are you using the "Selection Triangles" Tool to select and give textures within mxStudio?

When I export the ".obj" from modo 103 it comes in as one object with one default colour for everything. If I bring in a file from Lightwave it won't open.

If you could paste a description of your process and from what application you are moving into mxStudio, I would very much appreciate it.

TIP for others I got this off from NextLimit.
"to get rid of that yellow from the renders, switch viewport shading to Textured Decal and then to Preview or Render o Region Render.
It's a specific Mac bug that we are still investigating."

Keep posting...

I'm grouping like textures before I export the .obj file. When I import into Studio I just drag a material to that group. Seems to working fine for everything but my window glass so far. I don't know what that problem is. I'm getting the black holes even though I have a thickness. Normals seem fine too.

Jake,

What are you exporting from?

William, I'm using SketchUp. I'm going to give Cheetah, Lightwave, Hexagon and whatever else I can drag out to see what happens.
