Thanks Nachob!
Still, on my Mac PPC (Dual 2GHz) OSX 10.4, HDRs show up all red in the viewport. It's ok for positioning (almost - as there is still the familiar slight offset between preview and render), but it's not perfect yet..

Nachob,

in "Wireframe" mode, edges of coplanar surfaces are not being displayed. In "Hidden Line" mode, they are. Is it meant to be like that? I'd prefer having it the other way round: Wireframe showing all the wires, Hidden Line showing the volumetric appearance and indicating edges where the mesh curves.

I dont expect an answer before christmas..

Happy Holidays!

Yes, it's ment to be like that in order to speed up the OGL display for heavy geometry. You can however lower the threshold value in the OGL prefs to make more lines show up in the OGL view.

Thanks for quick reply Mihai
I'm afraid even with Threshold 0.000 the wires dont show. Are 32768 triangles too much? Acutally it's just a simple square (2048m), subdivided 128 times (16m each) for better displacement. GPU is a 256 MB GeForce 6600 which should not be the culprit. Same square subdivided only 16 times is shown with all wires visible in wireframe mode. Is this a Mac specific thing or do you experience similar behaviour on Windows?

Yes, it's the same on Windows. It could be that perfectly coplanar 'inside' edges don't show up, even with threshold at 0. I can't say it's something that's a great bother for me though...

Yes I agree it's not the most important feature but still it's a bit confusing when you want to check your mesh, switch to Wireframe, and the mesh you see is not the mesh you have... Especially when, thanks to displacement ( THANKS :!: :D ), the subdivision of flat faces has become more important.
