This is a known problem and somewhere in this forum it has been pointed out as a bug. I am sorry I can't remeber where and it was very frustrating for me also. As you have found, the solution is to turn off Maxwell in sw2006 unless you are using it.
The only consolation is that what has happen to you is not unique nor is your system incorrectly set up.
