Hi All

I'm moving to another computer. -How do i take the library of materials i have in the plug-in with me?? Or do i need to reimport all of them and sort them manually. There are changes to the materials in the plugin so would be a headache

Any help much appreciated.

Hi deboy,

If you open the plugin's Log Viewer and look at one of the first few lines, you will find a link to a text file which explains a bit about customizing the configuration of the plugin's material database. To move an entire database from one machine to another, you would:

on the original machine:

1. find the directory where the plugin's database is located. This is found under your roaming profile and the actual path may vary from machine to machine - if you look in the Log Viewer, you will find the actual location. For example, on my Vista machine here, the directory is located at C:\Users\Jeremy\AppData\Roaming\MaxwellDotNET. It may be in the Local Settings folder on XP.
2. browse to the ...\MaxwellDotNET\SDK folder, and .zip the Collections and DB folders found inside - these hold the structure you find in the Database Manager tree and the actual plugin Material files

on the new machine:

1. locate the MaxwellDotNET\SDK folder (you will actually have to run the plugin once first, since this directory is created at run-time)
2. replace the Collections and DB folders with the ones you .zipped on your other machine
3. open SolidWorks - your old database should now be here on your new machine

Let me know if you run into any problems.

Cheers,

JD
