Hi,

To remove Maxwell from addins, delete the following keys from the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\AddIns\{195ED12C-5B8D-4294-9485-3C664C20CAB9}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\AddInsStartup\{195ED12C-5B8D-4294-9485-3C664C20CAB9}

Regards

Hello,

Maxwell is working fine in SW 2007 in our systems, but some other users have reported issues in this area. We are looking into that to fix it for the next update.

Kind regards,

Juan

Reading your posts guys, I'm not sure I should update my SW :?
What will I get with SW 2007 that I don't have in SW 2006 SP4.1 (except Maxwell crashing :roll: ) ?
Is there any new feature you can't live without once you tested it ?

Pierre, I am usually hesitant to upgrade, however, SW now has a freeform surface modeling tool thats really cool. You should check it out.

Besides, postponing the inevitable upgrade only makes you have to crunch that much harder to learn it later. :)

JD@ Thanks for the workaround - I'll try it soon!

Hi Pierre,

2007 has approximately 1000 enhancements. Check out the 'what's new' pdf (159 pages) and decide based on your work when you should upgrade.

I waited until I finished a current project.

One unheralded improvedment is better accuracy picking edges with the mouse. Overlooked by many but it's big for me.

Thanks for your replies.
The thing is that I absolutely need to render products designed with SW with Maxwell. Maybe I'll wait for the next MR plugin release and see if it works fine with SW 2007 before I upgrade SW.

Hi all,

We are making a new plugin for SW2007. It is soon to announce the new features but it will be ready for the next update of Maxwell.

I've been using sp1 since it came out - basically, it has less bugs than sp0, that's about all I can say :wink:

As far as the plugin goes, I saveas mxs from the file | saveas menu, that's all I do. And what I have found is:

1: The plugin cannot be started automatically or if you use it you will crash sw. (as stated before)
2: After you have a model loaded you can start the plugin - and use it once or maybe twice. After that it will crash solidworks.

Yeah, I have the same experience- I load the plugin only when needed, and restart SW after I'm finished with it. I never noticed that "Save As MXS" option until you mentioned it though, so thanks. Saves me having to create a dummy camera every time.

No problem, but it still needs a camera - although I don't understand why, it's just tessalating and exporting polygons at that level as far as I know....

Update to my previous post: You can only export a mxs file once the second attempt will crash sw for sure.
