It looks like you may have several network cards and the license activator picked the "wrong" one. Open Maxwell and in the console panel it will tell you the "hostid" of your computer (the one Maxwell picks).

In the license activator, choose to activate the license but for a computer not connected to the internet. This will allow you to enter the hostid manually. This should save you a license file with the correct hostid.

Save and overwrite the previous license file, open a browser window, go to localhost:5054 and press reread/restart servers so RLM is restarted and reads the updated license file.

Hello Mihai,

This is what I am seeing in Maxwell Console. Shouldn't I be able to get RLM to launch without a valid license?

Thanks,

Gary

I think that's what RLM does if it doesn't find a license file. Are you sure your licenses are in the correct location? They were placed there by the license activator? If you browse to localhost:5054 does the RLM ui show up? If it does it means RLM is running, it just doesn't have a valid license Maxwell. Try changing the port used in the license file to something else, like 5065. Then browse again to localhost:5054 and reread/restart.

You may be already running an RLM server and this other one you're starting can't bind to the same port (5054). So browse first to localhost:5054 to see if anything is running already.

Hello Mihai,

What I can't do is get RLM to launch. The error message in the terminal is:

(rlm) Cannot bind Web Server port 5054, exiting
01/08 17:16 logout

And when I browse to localhost:5054 Safari says it fails to connect.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gary

Leeching RLM with MR 3.2.5 on 10.12 succesfully. Time to time I have this same trouble as you. My solution is restart computer, start safari with RLM Sever IP and port 5054. Switching server off and restart.
