Emitter in an instance - wont render

I am fairly new to Maxwell V3 and I am having some trouble with an interior rendering. I have a light fixture component in sketchup, that when exported to studio, not render when i assign an emitter to one of the materials in the component. I get an error that reads object [0.0.0] is not an emitter but it has triangles with emitter material.

What am I doing wrong? again, I am new to the multi-material groups in V3.

thanks

I had an error like this long time ago in maya, you cannot have an object that has a few materials and one of those is an emitter. you have to separate the object to a few parts and make sure the emitter is assign to one of those parts.

Is this possible when the object comes in as a multimaterial object?

afaik in maya at least, not possible. an emitter material must be assigned to a whole object, not parts of it. like when I model a lamp, the lamp may be made of metal and plastic on the same object, but the emitter is a simple plane object. separated from the lamp, (but can be in a group with the lamp object).
