Tail lights as motionblur

Hello!
I am trying to render long exposure tail light-pictures in Maxwell. Imagine a street with cars in the middle of the night. Unfortunately shutter can not be set lower than 1/1 but you can always increase the speed of the objects. I am not very satisfied with the results as 256 Motion Steps is the maximum in plug in I am using. This makes the motion blur very dotty and not as smooth as real life. Has someone succeeded with a better result?

I have just the thing....

I used the same techniques described in that video to create this test for example:

Btw, shutter can be lower than 1 (1 second), just set it to 0.5 for two seconds for example.

Just a note, for the image above, I actually modeled very simple tail lights, with the emitters inside a box, and the back of the box was a thinSSS material, with images of different tail lights used as transmittance maps. Just to make the light spread more realistic.
