Scatter modifier

I have a 1x1 plane on which I want to scatter 37x the same radio, rotated at differing angles. The radio is a group of 7 simple parts with not many polygons, each part with a different material assigned.

The radio does not scatter : (

If I use a cube from the Library in place of the radio, it scatters : )

What can I do to scatter grouped objects?

Tack!

Edit: I tried to do a manual scattering. When clicking on my grouped object, the radio, in the object lister and then select "Instance", nothing happens. No instance is created. No blue icon shows up in the object lister : (

So, grouped objects cannot be scattered and/or instanced?

You can scatter only meshes, not groups. Try to merge your group into a single mesh.

Thanks for letting me know, it does not say that in the manual.

That's too bad; I don't work with mesh software, other than Catia, Alias or Creo OBJ-file output. Very strange that something so simple and useful as instancing grouped geometry is not implemented in Maxwell Studio.

You could save a scene of the scatter object as MXS, import it as a reference and scatter that.

Ok, I try that workaround next time; thanks!
