Hi all,

New user... just wondering - how does the sample Guggenheim scene render so fast / clean?

I've been experimenting, but everything I try is generally a LOT slower and noisy.

Sorry if it's a silly question! I have Maxwell set up at home but am at work right now and keep forgetting to ask...

Thanks,
Andrew

You will find that in general exterior scenes will render a lot faster than interior scenes because there is a lot less indirect light and so a lot less light bounces to calculate.

The fastest possible renders will be that of an open space with one type of light source only (emitters only, hdr only, Phy Sky only). The slowest will be an interior space with small light openings where you combine emitters with hdr lighting or physical sky lighting.

Have a look at this page:

It will give you some guidance on things to take care of to optimize your renders and avoid excessive noise/slow rendering.
