Maya Phong material

According to the docs Maya's Phong shader gets translated internally to be used in Maxwell. I can't seem to get specular to work. Is this broken? What am I missing?

"The following Maya materials are translated into Maxwell approximations:"

I am using the latest (3.2) of Maxwell and Plugins.

I've created several objects painting them phong, blinn, lambert and maxwell layered material. I can confirm that all of them look identical.
Maya plugin 3.2.7, Maxwell 3.2.0.0 RC1.
