Problem with 3D Procedurals as Emitters

I can get "Marble/Fire" preset texture to work in world and UV space as a diffuse texture map, but when I try to make it work as an HDRI emitter I can only get it to work in UV space, even though the pull down says it is in World coordinates.
Is this expected?
I'd like to be able to use solid 3D procesural textures as emitters.

The Maya plug-in knows nothing about the procedurals contained in referenced MXM materials (I suppose that's your set-up in this case), so this is most likely a bug in the procedural itself. I'll move this thread to the main forum, but please also provide a link to a simple MXS file which demonstrates the problem.

I am unable to make the Marble / Fire preset use World Coordinates in an emitter. Even though the dropdown claims it is world coordinates it acts like UV coordinates.
I haven't yet tried other procedural textures.

For Voronoi it also appears to be UV mapped but I don't see the seams. I do, however, see that the texture looks tighter on the inside of a torus and more stretched on the outside which suggests UV mapping. The texture also doesn't change when I scale up the model which also suggests UV mapping.
The image controls don't work.
I can't change the contrast or invert the voronoi texture. I can, however, change the distance metric from Euclidean to others.
