MR 3.1 update - cloned parts become semi-transparent

After the MR 3.1 update, cloned objects' parts sometimes, but not always, become semi-transparent. The normals are oriented as in the original object. Notice the green and blue luminaires below. To make sure this does not happen, I have to re-import an object, instead of cloning it. What could this be?

This is most peculiar. This "effect" only occurred after the upgrade to 3.1. It happens with some (but not all) embedded and referenced materials. It happens with some (but not all) pre-upgrade and post-upgrade materials. Two exactly identical materials - only the colour being different - produce the "effect" and no "effect". Very odd!

There is no consistency in it that would help troubleshooting. Any ideas someone? A 3.1 issue?

Hi feynman
can you upload an example for test and confirmation ?

Thanks for wanting to take a look, much appreciated!

Here is a dropbox link https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2dmuv80hu28v ... 2go8a?dl=0 to the Pack & Go of a simplified version of the scene, including an image comparison, showing that the "effect" occurs in some materials when the emitters are on.

-

What is also very puzzling - why is Pack & Go collecting and saving texture maps of materials that have been deleted from the scene?! That adds a lot of "bloat", when large texture maps were involved... it looks like the Pack & Go feature also has a bug?

Hi
thank you
just make the specularity layer additive and that solve the problem ; but i don't understand why that happened !
something wrong with the original material ; or a new material with the same settings !

Thanks so much for having looked!

This is indeed very strange. Before the upgrade last week, the same boring material never resulted in such error on objects with emitters. In fact, I just made two new colours and they render fine - with the specularity layer in N mode as before. I will change them all to A to make sure they will all work.

Hopefully, someone from MR can chip in as to why this strange behaviour occurs since the 3.1 version...

Yes, it should be a bug, just like the Pack & Go bug I discovered when preparing this example.

Anyone from NL can chip in?

The transparency issue must be a bug and the Pack & Go transfer of textures not present in any material, too. The latter can really slow things down, if on is away on client location and has to Pack & Go to render at the office farm.
