Bug: mapping vs realscale

Hi

I noticed a strong difference between a real scale material and the same material mapped with a box mapping (see picture below).
This is a problem, because I work a lot with real scale, but sometimes have to switch these materials to box mapping, if I need to adjust any mappings. If the materials suddenly renders completely different, I cannot do that.
Also there is not a real reason, why a mapped material with the same settings (size of texture) should look different.

The same problem existed with v2 (http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... ng#p371450) but was fixed and worked fine for some time.

Here's a testrender:

Hi Kami,

I cannot reproduce it here; I don't see any difference in my test. Could you send us that small scene with the texture to check it here?

Thanks!

Fernando

sure! I send it to you via pm.

here is another close-up rendering (I adjusted the contrast to make it more obvious.

I've noticed some time ago problem with "inverted bump mapping" using rhino. To check you have to see closeup of material and it looks like it is lit from opposite direction of sun. Solution is to map using ray mode.

Thanks for that info Alex. I'll have a look to see if it is rhino-related. But it looks like a bit more than just an inverted bump.

I did some more tests, and it looks like the differences are only related to the bump and only if the texture size is not 1x1m.
Still left side with boxmapping, the right side with realscale.

Here is a render with the texture size 1x1m, then the bump is equally strong on both sides:

Here is the same render, but the texture set to 10x10m:

With real scale the bump does not get stronger, even if the texture is scaled up.
